Success Stories
i’ve always been chubby, but i’ve also always had great self-esteem and it never bothered me. when i went to college, i gained about 10-15 lbs my freshman year, which put me at about 195 lbs. that scared me, because i definitely never thought i would hit 200. so that made me very aware of just how big i really was.
i read a lot of comic books. oddly enough, i think i have to credit them for most of my motivation to lose weight. people in comic books are all fit, they can do awesome and fun things, and i really want(ed) to be more like a comic book character. i wanted to be physically able to do anything i could possibly want to do. i am almost 23 years old and for the first time in my life i can do the monkeybars on the playground. i weigh 128 lbs and i wear size 4/small/extra small clothing items. this morning i participated in a 5k charity run/walk/jog, and i finished it in about 33 minutes. it took me about 3 years, and i am really really happy

I, too, never saw myself going over 200 pounds in my life, ever! I was a physically fit, 6′ tall, 145 pound machine in my “day” until I became ill and ended up in a wheelchair.
For 12 years now I have been struggling with my weight and trying to walk again, and just this year I have made the right kinds of changes and have added the right kind of elements into my lifestyle in order to achieve my goals. So far I have lost 10 pounds and I have gone from only being able to barely walk 50 steps with a walker, to now walking up to 2,000 steps a week, climbing bridges, and more! I still use the walker but I have a feeling not for much longer, and the weight is falling off of me since I am finally up and moving around again.

My
wake-up call?
The day I realized I was one size away from the largest clothes that
Lane Bryant sells. I couldn’t help but think, If I get any bigger, what
am I going to fit into?
That was August 2006. I cut out soda immediately, but it wasn’t until that November that I got the nerve to step on a scale (after years of ignoring my weight)—I was 293 pounds. I knew I needed to do something drastic, so I signed up for every
water-aerobics class offered at my gym. As for my diet, I decided to just do two things: shrink myportions and cut out fast food.Soon, I started to feel better (no more achy knees!), so I began
walking, cycling, and lifting weights. By July 2008, I had dropped 125 pounds. When I started losing, my goal was just to feel better. Now, I feel like I can really live!
